Overview

Position Summary

Appen’s Data Privacy Analyst is responsible to ensure that the organization processes the personal data of its staff, customers, independent contractors, providers or any other individuals, also referred to as data subjects in compliance with the applicable data protection laws and policies. The Data Privacy Analyst will work collaboratively with other Appen teams to make sure compliance is met.

 

Responsibilities

  • Quality Management:
    • Execute day-to-day process for all Data Subjects’ requests (DSARs), and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
    • Assist in the development of quality management plans to ensure data privacy compliance is met.
  • Data Subject Relationship Management:
    • Become familiar with all data subject (PII) processing situations.
  • Guideline & Training Support:
    • Enhance and maintain a standard process in compliance to data protection rules at the direction of the Privacy Counsel.
  • Reporting and Communication:
    • Communicate service level expectations and directions to all data subjects.
    • Research data privacy laws.
    • Under manager guidance, communicate directly with clients, using proper escalation. procedures for data subjects.
    • Participate in regular meetings with DPO and Privacy / Commercial Counsel.
  • Where necessary, complete additional tasks as assigned.

 

 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of global data protection laws and practices, especially US and EU laws.
  • DSAR, GDPR, ISO Security knowledge.
  • Knowledge and skill in researching and applying data privacy and data protection guidelines
  • Excellent analytical skills, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and team working skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external parties.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and follow-up multiple tasks/details with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

 

 Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary education degree is a plus
  • 5 years of experience in the related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in data privacy, legal research, risk, or compliance
