Appen is looking for a seasoned senior Data Architect to drive the design and implementation of Enterprise Data Warehouse. We are looking someone is able to see the “big picture” and translate business requirements into technology requirement for modernized data management. This role is crucial in driving the growth of Appen by supporting strategic initiatives to enable all business units efficiently access the data they need, while adherence to data governance standards.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, business analysts to translate business problem statements into technical specifications, including data models, integrations, processing and storage.
• Define data architecture framework, standards and principles including metadata management, data modeling in database and data warehouse.
• Work with platform architect and tech leaders to design and expand cloud data infrastructure to address security, scalability and reliability concerns.
• Design data flows and work with data engineers to build out modernized data pipelines.
• Support data analyst/data scientist to get actionable insights for decision-making and growth initiatives.
• Champion data management best practices and guide the data user community with data governance standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, Data Scientist or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence.
• Deep understanding the data system development life cycle and project management approaches.
• Expertise in database administration, SQL development and data integration techniques.
• Hands on modern ETL and reporting tools.
• Experience with Cloud data infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Proficient in Python for data processing, and good knowledge of Java.
• Self-motivation and strong sense of ownership.
