Overview

Position Summary

Appen has an opportunity for a Vendor Management Specialist to join a dynamic, global team, supporting clients in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Applications are invited from candidates with experience in global supplier management.

 

Responsibilities

  • Research potential partnership opportunities with vendors around the world.
  • Follow new vendor vetting processes – background research, due diligence calls, documenting/categorizing vendor capabilities.
  • Working with operational SMEs, identify scope & acceptance criteria from sales quote requests, and draft vendor RFQs.
  • Collect RFQ responses – summarize cost & timeline received from multiple vendors in a consistent & timely manner.
  • Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing.
  • Draft vendor contracts.
  • Manage and maintain Appen’s vendor database, including quotations used for pricing proposals and vendor performance trackers.
  • Maintain positive relationships with key vendors to ensure product is high quality and delivered on time.
  • Liaise with other internal departments as required to resolve vendor’s issues and questions and manage vendor escalations during project execution.
  • Monthly vendor invoice reconciliation against work products delivered.

 

 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating and liaising with vendors).
  • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the capability to develop creative solutions.
  • Confident in communicating with stakeholders across the globe in a variety of cultural contexts and good relationship building skills.
  • Accountable and results driven.
  • A team player who is willing to work flexible hours within a global team across different time zones.
  • Confident user of MS Office tools, especially Excel and Word.

 

 Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant BA/BS degree with 3+ years’ experience in vendor management, consulting or sourcing
  • Familiarity with AI/ML data services highly preferred, but not essential
