Position Summary

Planning analysts design and implement business and marketing strategies to increase company profits and reduce costs, develop Power BI reports and dashboard that will help the operations understand key data to use for project key performance indicators, and establish basic workforce management structure to maintain a seamless movement of our manpower. Planning analysts report to operations managers and must be able to work in a collaborative, high-stress environment. Planning analysts help drive critical business decisions by analyzing metrics and designing reports. They communicate these results to managers and often provide suggestions based on their findings.


As a planning analyst, you must have a bachelor's degree in business, finance, information systems or a related field. You should also have advanced skills in SQL and Microsoft Excel, among other software programs. However, no formal certification is required for these. In addition to technical skills, reporting analysts must have the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time well. The ability to effectively communicate the results of your analysis is critical.



  • Day-to-day duties for planning analysts vary based on the industry they’re in and the financial interests of the hiring company. The following core job duties, however, are essentially the same in all businesses and industries:


    • Develop Strategies

      • Planning analysts develop reports and operational performance measurement strategies to increase project performance and boost sales. Design business analysis and data recording systems for use throughout departments.


    • Analyze Data

      • Planning analysts’ study and analyze various business data and financial information, including market trends, sales figures, and inventory control processes. Maintain databases and

        perform updates as necessary to ensure accuracy.


    • Study Daily Operations and Power BI Dashboards

      • Planning analysts streamline daily business operations to find ways to cut costs, maximize workforce, and increase performance. Update the Power BI dashboards and make sure that all data requirements are accurate and updated on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Regularly examine data reports to locate and resolve mistakes throughout and communicate the results of data analysis in written and verbal form to managers.

    • Consult with Staff

      • Planning analysts collaborate with Operations/Program managers and corporate staff to implement operational, financial, and staffing plans. Support various departments, including marketing and sales, in reaching their goals through analysis

    • Create Reports

      • Planning analysts write reports outlining various operational strategies, workforce analytics, and design detailed plans to enforce them. Create business reports that provide insight into key data points and accurately analyze and collect data for various types of business reports.


 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven technical skills in business intelligence, business analytics, data architecture, data warehousing design, data transformation for analytics purpose.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, Looker and other reporting tools is an advantage but not essential.
  • Expert in the development of key organizational management dashboards and reporting needs
  • Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, decision-making.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide and disparate user base across the organization and at all levels.
  • Well-developed management and motivational skills, setting performance standards.
  • Effective decision making in relation to systems and/or processes.
  • Ability to work under direction of different leads and balance work on project and operations while working on a tight schedule and budget.
  • Skill in planning, organizing, and prioritizing.
  • Skills in identifying and resolving problems.


 Qualifications and Experience

  • One to three years of experience as a workforce management, financial or business analyst
  • Experience in SAP, object-oriented programming, and other data analysis programs
  • Analytical skills that allow for the development of data-driven reports
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize projects to meet deadlines
  • Ability to use Power BI, SQL, and Microsoft Excel to create pivot tables, graphs, and charts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively relate data to coworkers
  • Excellent critical thinking skills to help solve business problems and make decisions
  • Tendency to pay close attention to small details that could impact results
  • General knowledge of business operations, objectives, strategies, process, and information flow.
