Specialist & PMO Computational Linguist

 

 

 

Position Summary

 

The main responsibility of a Computational Linguist is to provide operational data processing and packaging solutions using programming, machine learning and other computational means. The Computational Linguist applies expert technical and linguistic skills to solution design for new projects, creation and implementation of process improvements, and the successful delivery of complex projects.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

The role includes but is not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop tools for language processing
  • Undertake project work requiring strong computational, technical and linguistic skills
  • Lead department- and division-level technical and linguistic initiatives to improve efficiency and productivity and operational processes
  • Provide technical training and technical background to other team members
  • Develop technical solutions for new projects in liaison with Linguists and Senior Linguists

 

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3+ years in the Language Technology Industry or equivalent academic experience
  • Advanced degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent technical and programming skills; desire and ability to extend computational skill set as required
  • Significant technical experience using Unix and custom programs and scripts.
  • Strong linguistic analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accountability and drive to produce rapid results and solutions
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment characterized by constant change, ambiguous client specifications, and a fast, deadline-driven culture
