Position Summary

 

The Appen UX Team is looking for a seasoned Lead UX Designer in the West Coast, USA. Ideally, you'll be someone with B2B SaaS experience in the realm of UX, Interaction and Visual Design. In this role, you'll employ your years of professional experience to lead and deliver a wide range of large engagements in a complex stakeholder environment. You ought to be comfortable at making design decisions in an Agile product development process and work with cross-functional teams to review, design, build, document and roll out products to help fulfil Appen's vision to be the #1 Data for AI lifecycle company.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Enact Appen’s corporate commitment to Ease of Use across a broad range of web and mobile interfaces
  • Help refine leadership skills and provide mentorship to more junior members in the team
  • Lead UX workshops or discovery discussions with low or high-fidelity prototypes in UX workshops
  • Determine and negotiate key design decisions with Product Managers, Scrum Leads, and Engineers, resulting in an efficient implementation strategy for our most cutting-edge innovations
  • Exercise your ability to think and document user-stories in detail (or in a prototype), and work closely with Application Engineers to ensure they’re implemented as designed to deliver an implementation of the highest quality possible for Appen’s customers
  • Create storyboards, wireframes, and prototypes to design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces
  • Collaborate with other UX team members to apply your Design Thinking skills effectively to arrive on a MVP value proposition on each project while making design decisions that improve Appen’s greater system
  • Remain current on UX/UI trends, patterns, and techniques, and suggest new approaches and methods as necessary

 

Skills & Expertise We're Looking For

 

  • 8-12 years of UX industry experience
  • Ability to execute autonomously
  • Comfortable working on a wide range of platforms or products
  • Experience designing for Business Users of sophisticated web applications
  • Track record of up levelling an existing web application’s Interaction & Visual Design
  • A portfolio submission demonstrating the accomplishments above
  • Awareness of WCAG accessibility
  • Experience designing with and for a Design System, and product localization
  • Competence in user research, with the ability to form data-driven insights to aid the Design Thinking process
  • Industry experience with agile methodology
