VP, SRE (Infrastructure, Operations & QA Engineering)

 

 

 

 

Position Summary

 

The VP of SRE (Infrastructure, Operations and Quality Assurance Engineer) will lead Appen’s Site Reliability Engineering organization. This VP will create the vision and strategic direction of Appen’s infrastructure, operations and quality assurance practice as we scale for the future. The organization’s focus is on availability, security, quality, enablement and efficiency. SRE collaborates with other technology teams in Appen to manage infrastructure on multiple clouds and on-premise deployments.

The VP of SRE report directly to Chief Technology Officer.  Reporting to the VP of SRE are:  the Dev-OPS team, QE team and Security team.

There is a strong preference for this position to be located in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Remote candidates will also be considered if they are willing to work in the West Coast Time Zone (Pacific Time).

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage platform infrastructure, including multiple public clouds and on-premise deployments
  • Ensure site reliability (availability, performance, and quality)
  • Provide 24x7 site operations and disaster recovery (DR)
  • Vulnerability, configuration, incident, problem, and change management
  • Build core Test Engineering capabilities as an integrated service within the office of the CTO inclusive of engineering, technology operations, security, data and architecture

Qualifications and Experience

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 10 + years of experience managing DevOps/SRE Teams and has managed large scaled systems
  • Experience of building systems, processes and teams to support rapid business and system traffic growth
  • Experience in building QA teams, Testing and Test Automation related processes is a bonus.
  • Strong leadership skills to build and grow teams
  • Excellent communicator
  • Demonstrated experience leading offshore teams
