Appen is looking for qualified Montenegrin linguists to work in a phonemic transcription project, where lists of Montenegrin words or phrases will be transcribed as they should be pronounced, using the SAMPA transcription conventions.   Task The majority of the annotator's time will be spent checking and adding phonemic transcriptions using an online tool. Guidelines for the project will be provided by Appen.   Project Information Location: Remote, Global Hours: Commitment of approximately 10-20 hours per week, depending on the candidate's availability. This stack is comprised of Python, PostgreSQL and AngularJS. In this role, you will be working on both existing and new projects. You are expected to function in a guiding role on architectural decision, provide input on user experience, build prototypes, MVP and ultimately a final product. The new product will be based on already existing functionality as well as many new features. You should be a self-starter, work well independently as well as contributing to the team, be comfortable in an Agile (scrum) development environment, changing requirements and be willing to help wherever needed as this is a very small and effective team.   As a Software Engineer, you will also communicate with users both within and externally to Appen, coordinate all development activities surrounding the projects as it relates to engineering and ensure great communication and transparency into the project development to the rest of the company.
