Position Summary   Appen is seeking a talented Solutions Engineer to join our Solutions team which supports our Sales organization. As a Solutions Engineer you will play a vital role in driving the technical pre-sales engagement with prospective customers. In the Wilderness project, our goal is to make it easier to find the answers to your questions and queries. We categorize queries/questions to help train algorithms to better understand what is being asked and we rate the answers given so only the best ones make it through. By working on this project, you're directly helping to improve the way we find things online and bettering how AI and algorithms understand the questions we ask them. Overview: - Manage a team of Data Processing Associates on overall performance  - As a supervisor, you will also act as SME/Escalation point on the below tasks of your Data Processing Associates - Annotation of all types of data o Pixel annotation   - Provide judgement on image, video and audio tasks: o Identify and Transcribe of human speech   - Transcription  - Quality checking of data   - Data Collection   - Voice   - Call outs, research or data processing.   - Adherence to Data & Information Security or ISO standards, DPA and all other global requirements on data security of Appen.   - Reports of summary of tasks accomplished.   - Conduct training for process updates as needed - Responsible for meeting and exceeding targets set by projects. - Leads a continuous improvement culture on a continuous project. - Assist in site related activities where leadership and supervision are required. - Ensures that Core values of Appen are practiced at all times across the team. - Provides overall leadership, employee morale and motivation on operations floor - Provides weekly report on team performance to its superiors in a timely manner   Qualifications:  - Must be able to work on a hybrid model of remote and onsite work (office will be in Plano, TX) - Able to work for 40 hours/week  - Must submit resume upon application - Must have team management experience  - At least fluent in the English language  - Agreeable to a full-time contract  - Can start ASAP    About Appen   Appen collects and labels images, text, speech, audio, video, and other data used to build and continuously improve the world’s most innovative artificial intelligence systems. Project Overview   The project involves updating the Lithuanian lexicon used by our client’s suite of proofing tools (spell-checker, etc.) to incorporate new vocabulary related to COVID-19. - The Dev role will primarily involve compiling a list of new words to add to the lexicon, sorting these words into templates based on characteristics such as part of speech and inflection pattern, creating any necessary new templates, and updating the lexicon using the client's software. Qualifications - - A degree in linguistics or related field. - Strong knowledge of Lithuanian morphology, inflection patterns, and current usage. - Guidance on using the client software will be provided but good technical skills and an aptitude for learning to use new software will be helpful. - Time engagement: 2-3 weeks; est. 29 hours total; starting ASAP -   - The QA role will primarily involve reviewing the vocabulary list and template classifications provided by Dev, and reviewing the output from various tests that will be run on the lexicon after it has been updated to ensure that all changes are expected.
